Appearance:
Tristan is forever concerned about the way he looks. His har looks naturally scruffy in a fashionable way when the truth is he spends an age achieving the looks. His dark brown curly hair hangs quite long and compliment bone structure in his face. His features are quite elegant but in no way compromise his masculinity.
He always projects a sense of vitality due to his curly hair and the sparkle in his dark brown eyes. He is always aware of how he stands and boosts a perfect posture because of his mother's nagging and always seems to get noticed when he walks into a room. He has a cheeky smile and dimples, but because he is self concsious about the fact he has dimples his smiles, when not full hearted, become wry and awkward and shy. His unguarded smiles are rare.
When not forced into Hogwarts robes, he often dresses in scruffy and tattered jeans with shirts proclaiming his favourite bands. He sometimes adds a bit more with a blazer to make it smart casual. With a lithe frame at 5'11 he's a little wary of the lack of muscles and despite daily runs, it seems nothing had bulked him up.

History:
Tristan was born to the two most boring people in the world; Fred and Bernadette. Fred was an accountant and Bernadette was a devout Catholic house wife. He was brought up under a stifling rule governed by his mother’s frankly fundamentalist ideals. Tristan was a very difficult child and by the time he was two his mother was struggling to reign him in and was wondering where she was going wrong. She tried to dredge up many explanations including ADHD and a diet with too much sugar. Tristan was just naturally inquisitive.
His childlike curiosity was never satisfied in such a dull household and with his mother never ever explaining the views she decided he must have it was only natural that he began to question everything. Tristan caused a lot of distress, especially when they dreaded stream of ‘why’s started at bedtime, or even worse, in church. At six he constantly voiced his dislike of church because it was boring. And with six came his first taste of school. With new knowledge he became truly unruly and refused to believe anymore. But it wasn’t because he was a young philosophical genius; it was because there was much more interesting things he’d rather do on Sunday.
His father didn’t really care, his mother gave up and just disapproved of anything she could.
He loved school, but not for the learning. He got bored of that after a while. He loved the people. He just loved to talk and he loved being with people so much more interesting than his parents.
By eleven, things came crashing down for Bernadette. The Hogwarts letter came. Tristan was absolutely ecstatic and couldn’t wait to go. His mother almost had heart attack. It was the worst thing possible. Magic was work of the devil. She wouldn’t have any of it and forbade him to go for fear that Tristan would put all their immortal souls in danger.
Luckily for him, his best friend’s twin sister across the road also got a letter inviting her. The family were … eccentric, which Tristan absolutely adored. They also frequently fostered children so taking on Tristan wasn’t too much trouble when the house already had four other kids running around. So the trip to King’s Cross was given by the family as well as accommodation in the summers for when he had to leave the school.
On the train, Tristan was immediately beset by many wonderful people! So many interesting people! He dove head first into attaching himself to as many factions as he was allowed with only one glaring failure. That was when he approached a Pureblood and was then found to be completely ignorant of the world and was mercilessly taunted until he left the carriage defeated.
Such stuck up behaviour immediately hit him wrong. When he found out about the Pureblood faction from a privy new friend, he was glad he didn’t get attached.
He was proclaimed a Hufflepuff without much consideration from the hat. He didn’t know what it meant but was just happy his best friend’s twin joined him. Everyone was nice to him and in a new world it was difficult to be anything but happy and content.
However, his studies didn’t move too smoothly. Homework was something new to him. At his Muggle school, he managed to get out of homework with minimal effort. It didn’t work quite as well with Snape breathing down your neck. He was average at best. Studying outside of school hours was another learning curve. With so many people around, especially girls as he was beginning to discover, he found it hard to concentrate on working.
Only when he scraped through first year did he become a little more assertive in his studying.
Nothing’s really changed since second year. He is a Chaser on the Quidditch team now and that’s about it.
The You-Know-Who issue that has cropped up hasn’t really sobered him. He’s very light hearted and the he doesn’t want to believe the situation. His neutral for the sake of not making any commitments. Plus, he doesn’t really like Harry Potter. He’s wary of the seemingly blind faith some people have in him. It’s a bit like a cult and that remind him of someone he doesn’t really like.
Personality:
Tristan is very loyal, faithful, and reliable. He can be depended on to do the right thing for his friends. Tristan is extremely dependable on following through with things which he has promised. For this reason, he sometimes gets more . and more work piled on him. Because Tristan has such a strong sense of duty, he may have a difficult time saying "no" when he is given more work than he can reasonably handle. For this reason, Tristan often works long hours, and may be unwittingly taken advantage of.
Tristan will work for long periods of time and put tremendous amounts of energy into doing any task which he sees as important to fulfilling a goal. However, he will resist putting energy into things which don't make sense to him, or for which he can't see a practical application. He prefers to work alone, but works well in teams when the situation demands it, and it constantly does. He likes to be accountable for his actions, and enjoys being in positions of authority.
Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behaviour, rather than mandates. If Tristan has decided that something needs to be done, then his "do it and get on with it" attitude takes precedence over the rules. Not that many people reprimand him for it; he can talk his way in or out of anything, and this last trait makes him very apt at lying. The gift of gab with which he is blessed with makes it naturally easy for him to get what he wants.
Tristan has a strong flair for drama and style; he's fast-moving, fast-talking person. He always needs to be doing something or else he feels unneeded, unwanted, and useless. He also had the slightly vain tendency of looking into any mirror he passes but only to assess his standard of appearance rather than admire himself. He always frets about his appearance.
When bogged down by stress, Tristan often feels isolated from others. He feels as if he is misunderstood and undervalued, and that his efforts are taken for granted. Although normally Tristan is very verbal and doesn't have any problem expressing himself, when under stress he has a hard time putting his feelings into words and communicating them to others. Usually he is extremely straight forward and brutally blunt. Tristan also knows the importance of communicating 'diplomatically', which for him means both being polite and friendly when necessary and using sophisticated, vicious sarcasm when appropriate.
Character Flaws:
* Easily taken advantage of
* Quite a sensitive soul; easily offended and upset
* Lacks emotional armour
* Cowardly tendencies when things get violent
* Very concerned about body image
* Considers the female sex infinitely more important than studies
* Lack of respect for authority (but respect can be earned with a certain amount of toil)
* Often replies without prior thought
* Tendency of lying to make himself appear glamorous
