Indifference, driving out colour and sensation. The sky was grey. The grass was dull. Rain spilled without sparkle from the clouds. He barely registered it making contact with his face as he lay there, facing the seemingly infinite blankness, sighing at the restlessness stirring within him. His arms were acting as pillow under his head as he closed his eyes.
The only thing apparent to him was a strange cleansing sensation. It purged thoughts from his mind and he thought much deeper. Althouth, Tristan's idea of profound thought was contemplation of the future, or rather not fantasising about the Ravenclaw 6th Year who's name he didn't catch. Yes, it was nice being 'cleansed' so to speak, but he needed to do something.
He regreted the walk. It seemed like a nice relaxing idea, but now he just missed human company. It wasn't the cold or the sober mood; indeed he found both very agreeable. It was a strange type of serenity. But serenity wasn't his thing at the moment. In fact, it was afterschool, classes had finished, homework needn't be done till tomorrow and the best he could come up with was sit in the rain?
Standing up, thoroughly drenched, he glanced behind him at the lake and castle. Both looked warm with fire light reflected off glass and water. It was softly illuminated and beckoning him. Besides, he had gossip to catch up on. And he had asked Gale about the Ravenclaw girl. He hadn't asked for a report yet.
So with that, he slowly made his was back the castle and saw another figure mirroring his movements towards the place. He sped up, just in case it was a prefect, as the sun was dipping and proclaimed the time to be close to curfew.
